The NHS Sustainability Day is a staple in the Industry’s diary. The event, which carries the strapline ‘Day for Action’, sees businesses, Trusts and NHS members coming together to promote sustainability, share achievements and insights into how to work more efficiently, and with the environment in mind.
SRCL was delighted to attend some of our customers’ own Day for Action events, including University Hospital South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust’s Wythenshawe Hospital, North West Ambulance Service, The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and King’s Mill Hospital.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with our customers and speak with Team Members from right across their facilities. We were able to share best practice to enhance segregation and highlight how every part of the waste process can impact on sustainability.
We also took the opportunity to promote our reusable sharps containers, Bio Systems. The SRCL Sharps Management Service provides users with a unique system whereby the containers can be reused up to 600 times, following a state of the art wash and sterilisation process, diverting a huge amount of plastics from incineration.
Our Regional Account Executive, Ben Flatres gave a 20 minute presentation to the delegates at the North West Ambulance event, on the environmental benefits of our Sharps Management Service, which included how the solution can help reduce our reliance on finite natural resources. The presentation received some excellent feedback from the attendees.
Ben told us, ‘The NHS Sustainability Day went really well, we were pleased to be invited to speak at the North West Ambulance Service’s Day for Action event. The delegates were engaged throughout all the presentations and we received some excellent feedback on our Bio Systems reusable containers. We look forward to next year!’
